Paolo Nazzari and Plarent Berhamaj beat designers from across Europe who were invited to participate in the Linking Europe competition. Invitations were sent to over 800 universities and colleges , asking them to come up with a creative design for the livery of one of Vueling’s Airbus A320s.
The theme of the competition was “The Construction of Europe through Cities and Culture” and entries needed to take into account the following topics: the connection and interaction between European cities (“connection” understood in a broad sense, including cultural and artistic links), the aims of the Mies van der Rohe Foundation as a European cultural catalyst and the aims of the Vueling airline connecting cities across Europe. The winner was the “Where do you wanna wake up tomorrow?” proposal sent by the team composed of Plarent Berhamaj and Paolo Nazzari. The project showcases some of Europe’s best known monuments, all placed next to each other to emphasize European’s unity in diversity.
