Beauty and the Beast

“The Beauty and the Beast” is not just a bedtime story. It is a metaphor/insight in the indissoluble relationship between the two; the fact that one cannot be appreciated without engaging with the other. Beauty is not something that can be measured by any means; it is neither universal nor objective. It is a product of comparison and is always in the eyes of the beholder. It is thus impossible to give an accurate definition about beauty as aesthetic value judgments are too determined by specific tastes and contexts.

This project is an attempt to comment on consumer’s culture and its impact on people’s choices. It aims to redefine the associations of attraction and repulsion, to challenge, subvert, uncover, and expose stereotypes and preconceptions about beautiful and what is not, about “beauty and beastliness”.
