Saturn Security Light

This project concentrates on how to provide better visibility in common areas of community housing, such as stairways, corridors and landings, in order to promote a greater feeling of safety amongst residents.

The high accessibility of these common areas, combined with poor visibility and dark corners created by inadequate lighting, produces a climate of fear and an environment ripe for opportunist crime.

The Saturn security light combines a powerful flourescent lamp and a convex mirror, of the type often found in shops and tube stations, in order to provide both better lighting and better all round visibility.

The Saturn lighting system also incorporates a light sensor, which saves energy and money, by only activating the light when levels of daylight fall below an acceptable point.
