Sustainability, we hear it every day ; scarring us about the future.But how can we improve our behaviours when the consumption society we are stuck in does not move?
Consumers are ready to start living “greener” if it is does not require any investment from them. This project looks at a solution to help consumers act responsibly without really noticing. The point is to give them additional comfort.That way, they might want to consume responsibly again.
Packaging is 40% of the waste we produce, and needs to be reduced. Furniture is a product that we are used to buy with extra packaging. Most of the time it is thrown away ; sometimes kept for varied reasons. Anyway, it is bulky.
These two pieces of furniture do not require extra packaging. The pack is part of the product. The lamp packaging becomes an anti slip base, and the chair container is the seat cover once turned inside out. Nothing is wasted. The products are easy to dismantle, repack and transport if needed. They do not easthetically shout out that they are “greener” but they do help consumers to reduce their waste production.
These two products are made to show that such a concept could easily be expand.
